Drop nipple

VIROTEC®-Drop nipple in diameters 3/4” and 1”.

The VIROTEC®-drop nipple is a pipe which can be used as a riser or downpipe for directly screwing in sprinklers in fixed, stationary water systems for extinguishing fires. It is available in the pipe dimensions 3/4” and 1”, in the lengths 0.5 m and 1.0 m, with one-sided or double-sided reduction and with 3/8”, 1/2” and 3/4” threaded outlet connections.


Mounting instruction

- Determine the required component length;
- Shorten the VIROTEC®-drop nipple to the required length;
- Cut the outer thread and seal;
- Screw the VIROTEC®-drop nipple in the relevant fitting;
- Seal the sprinkler and screw into the inner thread (max. 25 Nm tightening torque);
- After fitting the sprinkler, visually inspect for cracks at the reducer;


The VIROTEC®-drop nipple is made as a welded threaded pipe to DIN 2440. It is available in primed and zinced versions and in the standard lengths 0.5 and 1.0 m. The VIROTEC®-drop nipple is cut to the required length on building site and equipped with an outer thread. In the double-sided reduced pipe the cutting produces two drop nipples.

The VIROTEC®-telescope pipe VS & VSI & VSN is an adjustable drop nipple for use in fixed, stationary water systems for extinguishing fires. It enables precise adjustment of the sprinkler heads to the location of a suspended ceiling in a vertical direction. The initial length can be adjusted to the installed situation by shortening the outer pipe. The longitudinal adjustment can take place after the pipe network has been completely installed. The installation time is considerably reduced

VIROTEC®-Flexarm® turned to the point.

The VIROTEC®-Flexarm® FL 1 & FL 2 is a length adjustable arm over pipe for use in fixed, stationary water systems for extinguishing fires. The Flexarm® was specially designed for use in the area of suspended ceilings, where conventional working methods require a large number of adjustments. It enables fast, easy and precise horizontal adjustment to each point within the area of a ceiling panel with a grid dimension of 625 mm. The type FL 1 is intended for mounting abouve the branch line pipe.The type FL 2 is intended for mounting below the branch line pipe.


Mounting instruction

  • - Seal the 1” connecting thread at the connector (Item 3).
    Important: When using liquid sealants, note the sealant instructions for use;
    - Screw in connector (Item 3) and tight on firm with pipe wrench;
    - Place the Flexarm® in the required position and secure it by ligth tightening (approx 5 Nm) the setscrews (Item 5);
    - Subsequent adjustment is possible at any time, even when pressurised:
     - Undo setscrews (Item 5);
     - Adjust to required position;
     - Tighten setscrews (Item 5).


The VIROTEC®-Flexarm® consists of the following components:
- Item 1 Connecting arm (casting, zinced);
- Item 2 End arm (casting, zinced);
- Item 3 Connector (casting, zinced);
- Item 4 Locking pins (assembly fixing, inside);
- Item 5 Setscrews (position fixing);
- Item 6 O-ring (silicon).

The unit is adjusted by swivelling the connecting and end arm in the horizontal plane. The hinges are sealed with an O-ring (Item 6). The locking pins (Item 4) prevent the components from falling part. These locking pins cannot be dismantled (sealed in the factory). The set position is fixed by tightening the two external setscrews (Item 5). Before installation or positioning, these setscrews are only undone by approx 1/2 turn (delivered condition) and are then re-tightened. The positioning can also take place under pressure.
